Did you know one cup of sugar costs approxiamtely 25 cents and one serving of Kool-Aid costs 6 cents?
I've been wondering that for awhile so I finally did the math.
There are 7 and 1/4 ounces of sugar in a cup. Sugar comes in 5 pound bags. One pound equals 16 ounces; that's 80 ounces to a bag. Eighty ounces divided by 7.25 ounces equals 11.03 cups of sugar in one 5 pound bag. A five pound bag of sugar costs approximately $2.50. Two dollars and fifty cents divided by 11.03 cups equals 22.6 cents per cup of sugar.
A Kool-Aid packet costs about 20 cents. A 20 cent packet of Kool-Aid plus a 25 cent cup of sugar amounts to Kool-Aid costing about 45 cents to make. One packet of Kool-Aid makes eight servings. Forty-five cents divided by 8 servings equals six cents (if you round up). By the way, the per serving cost was a spur of the moment thing I figured out just now.
